Abo Fayed: Extending the deadline for consensus on the constitutional base between the Parliament and the state Council to next March.

Member of the Supreme Council of the State and a member of the Constitutional Committee, Idris Abo Fayed, affirmed extending the date of consensus between the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State, on the “constitutional basis” for the December 24 elections, until next March 19.

Abo Fayed considered, on his personal Facebook page, that what the committee has done is a fixed and definite right. In view of the retreat of the Mission’s experts and the High Electoral Commission, to adhere to the first Hurghada agreement on the 20th of last January, officially documented by the mission’s testimony itself.

Abo Fayed explained that what happened in the second Hurghada meeting on the 12th of this February are verbal convergences, not documented, neither written nor video or audio recorded, and therefore there is no legal effect for them.

It is worth noting that the President of the High National Elections Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, announced on the 14th of February the end of the period granted for the consensus of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the state on a constitutional basis for elections.
