In cooperation with Russia, officers in the Assad regime are involved in recruiting mercenaries sent to Libya.

“Arabi 21” website quoted “a Syrian local network” that there are officers of the Syrian regime involved with Russia in recruiting mercenaries in exchange for obtaining a commission estimated at 100-150 dollars for each member they recruit, with Russia intensifying its recruitment campaigns.

The Syrian journalist Ahed Al-Salibi told Al-Arabi 21 on Friday that the Russian security companies require that the fighter be between 25-45 years old and be disease-free, before being transferred to the headquarters of the Russian forces in Hmeimim, in exchange for monthly salaries estimated from 1000 to 1,200 dollars.

“Al-Salibi” emphasized that Russia’s focus is on the countryside of Deir Ezzor; This allowed the presence of a number of them in Libya, where Russia is taking advantage of the economic situation, the weak wages granted to them by the regime, and the youth’s desire to evade military service in the regime forces.

It is worth noting that the report of the United Nations experts confirmed in May 2020 the presence of a number of Syrian mercenaries recruited by Russia, which numbered about 1,200.
