Williams: The new government must come under the umbrella of the Political Dialogue Forum.

The UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, said Wednesday that any attempt to form a new unified executive body must come under the umbrella of the Libyan political dialogue.

“Williams” added in an interview with the British newspaper “The Guardian”, that the country now has a rare opportunity to move forward towards national unity, but that will require painful concessions from all parties, according to the newspaper.

“Williams” explained that there are those trying to maintain the status quo, and they see any change through a temporary executive authority or access to elections on December 24, as an end to their privileged access to state treasuries and resources.

It is worth noting that the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum agreed on the proposal of a mechanism for selecting the executive authority by 73%, and these results were welcomed locally and internationally, hoping to continue until the nomination of a new presidential council and prime minister.

Tunis: Agreement on the executive authority selection mechanism is a positive step for forming a unified government to oversee the elections.

“Williams” warns politicians not to bypass the dialogue forum and considers Al-Sarraj’s decision to establish a “stability support body” as an obstruction to its outcomes.
