A report published by the French website Le Monde Afrique revealed that France, Egypt and Russia informed Haftar of their opposition to the aggressive policy that he shows against the GNA in Tripoli.
The site added, in its report on Tuesday, that the UAE still wants to achieve a military victory for Haftar in order to protect its interests, while Haftar is trying to prove himself as a distinguished interlocutor only for his allies.
The website said that the French Foreign Minister, Jean Le Drian, had not previously hidden his sympathy or support for Haftar, but the French stance changed after Haftar’s recent speech marking the 69th anniversary of Libya’s independence on December 24, in which he declared war on Turkey and the reconciliation government.
The website referred to the statement of the French Foreign Ministry, which confirmed the exclusion of the military solution and support for the ceasefire agreement, while Egypt, Haftar’s natural ally, sent a delegation headed by the Deputy Chief of General Intelligence to Tripoli.
The site added that Russia welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord, and Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha visited Paris at the end of last November, and was welcomed by Minister of Interior “Gerald Darmanin”, Minister of Foreign Affairs “Le Drian” and Minister of Defense “Florence Parly”, who is known for his good relationship with the Turkey.
