Maltese court sentenced the Afriqiyah airlines plane hijacker to 25 years imprisonment.

A Malta court sentenced Musa Saha, who hijacked the Afriqiyah Airways Airbus 320 airliner 4 years ago, to 25 years in prison.

And the judgment issued on Wednesday imposed a fine of 9,900 euros, which is likely to turn into years of imprisonment if he does not pay it within a year, according to the Russian agency Sputnik.

The court explained that Saha’s partner in the kidnapping, Ahmed Saleh, is awaiting his trial, pointing out that the two defendants at the beginning of the trial tried to acquit themselves before Saha retracted his statements.

The Afriqiyah Airways plane that was hijacked in December 2016 was carrying 118 passengers, including 82 men, 28 women and children, and crew members.
