Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha called on the European Union to provide “logistical” support to Libya, so that the authorities there could control the phenomenon of illegal immigration.
Bashagha suggested, during his Thursday speech, as part of the Italian Mediterranean Dialogue Forum, which is being held through visual communication technology, to launch a partnership between Tripoli and Brussels to secure the borders of Libya.
Bashagha added, “We need more help, and if we have” electronic “border monitoring tools, we would be able to control illegal immigration, according to the Italian news agency AKI.
It is worth noting that the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, made successive visits to a number of countries as part of the Ministry’s efforts aimed at raising the efficiency of the security services in Libya, and combating corruption, money laundering and terrorism.
