The report of the US Principal Inspector General for counterterrorism operations in East, North and West Africa affirmed that the “Government of National Accord forces” defeated Haftar’s militias in its recent war on Tripoli, and that the militia of the 106th Brigade suffered great losses due to its recruitment of inexperienced fighters.
The report submitted to the US Congress from July 1 to September 30, 2020 and issued by the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) accused the 106 militia headed by Khalid, Haftar’s son, of committing criminal activities.
In a related context, the report mentioned that what is known as the 12th Brigade, which was led by “Bin Nayel”, was responsible for stopping production in the Al Sharara field last June, along with the so-called “128th Brigade” in closing oil wells in the desert, which caused the Libyan economy to suffer heavy losses.
“Human Rights Watch” confirmed in its report last year that the Serqiwa family accused the 106th Brigade, led by Haftar’s son, of participating in the kidnapping of Representative Siham Serqiwa, whose fate has not yet been revealed.
