Former US envoy to Libya: “Biden” will support peaceful solutions through the political process in Libya.

Former US envoy to Libya, Jonathan Weiner, expected President-elect Joe Biden’s policy toward Libya to push forward towards a peaceful solution to “the conflict” through a political process.

Winer added during statements to Al-Jazeera on Monday, that the political process will aim to respect the arms embargo, stop attacks on civilians and infrastructure, support Libyan sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and the departure of foreign military forces and mercenaries.

“Winer” suggested that Biden would show his respect for Libyans to determine their fate, and his willingness to consult with others in order to achieve this. This is a contradiction to the confusion, contradictory procedures, mixed signals, and outright negligence that plagued Washington’s stance toward Libya in the years of “Trump” rule, according to him.

It is worth noting that, last Thursday, the US Congress adopted the Law to Support Stability in Libya, which adopts the imposition of sanctions against war criminals and those obstructing the dialogue in Libya.
