On Thursday, the US House of Representatives approved the “Libya Stability Act”, which supports the imposition of sanctions on foreign parties that interfere in Libyan affairs.
The law deals with setting the political framework for the US State Department towards Libya, and calls for limiting international interference in Libya, especially Russian intervention and support for the democratic path.
Congressman Ted Deutch said – in a tweet that the law punishes those who support mercenaries and militias, and violate the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations, affirming Congress’s interest in the stability of Libya, according to what Sputnik reported.
Deutch called on the United States to play a more active role in diplomacy to resolve the conflict in order to support humanitarian aid, democratic governance, civil society and future elections, and improve the financial management of the public sector in Libya.
