“Williams”: The participants in the Tunis Forum have made a great achievement … and ten years of conflict cannot be resolved in a week.

The Acting UN Envoy to the United Nations Mission in Libya “Stephanie Williams” said that the participants in the Dialogue Forum in Tunis have accomplished a “great achievement,” indicating that they will meet next week via video technology, to discuss options for a mechanism for selecting the executive authority.

“Williams added” during a press conference, Sunday, that the negotiators agreed to separate the Presidency Council from the government, which will be largely responsible for providing services, saying that “ten years of conflict cannot be resolved in one week.”

“Williams” explained that the participants agreed on a tentative date for elections on December 24, 2021, terms for running for sovereign positions, and forming a committee to lay down a constitutional base to hold the next elections.

“Williams” stated that the participants in the dialogue showed patriotism, and would return to their constituencies for consultations, calling on everyone to make concessions.

“Williams” denied knowledge of the request to postpone discussions by the participants, and confirmed “an investigation is being conducted into some participants receiving bribes.”
