After the success of “5 + 5” military committee talks in Geneva … Ghadames’ sessions are bearing fruit in its second day.

The Joint Military Committee, which was agreed to be formed at the Berlin Conference on Libya, on October 23, succeeded in signing a ceasefire, putting in place mechanisms for withdrawing mercenaries and protecting oil installations.

The committee began its consultations inside Libya after it chose the place of the understanding on the implementation of the terms of the agreement within the borders of the country, specifically the city of Ghadames in the far southwest of the country.

Positive Launch

The first round of the work of the Joint Military Committee 5 + 5 began in Ghadames, on the 2nd of November, in the presence of the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Libya, Stephanie Williams.

For his part, a member of the “5 + 5” military committee, Brigadier Mukhtar Al-Naqasa, said on Monday that the committee meeting in the fifth round, which was held in Ghadames, was positive, stressing the agreement during the dialogue session to stop the war, implement a ceasefire, and support peace throughout Libya.

Al-Naqasa in a statement to the official Libya Channel, explained that an organizational and structural plan will be developed to form the Petroleum Facilities Guard, indicating that the Joint Security Operations Room and a group of Petroleum Facilities Guards participated in the session’s activities.

The second round begins

In the same context, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya announced, on Tuesday morning, the start of the second day of the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee meetings in Ghadames, in the presence of the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Libya, Stephanie Williams.

At the conclusion of the second round of talks, Stephanie Williams, Head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, announced that the Military Committee had agreed to hold its next meeting in Sirte.

In a press release after the Second Committee’s talks, Williams said that the Military Commission chose to have its headquarters in the “Ouagadougou” complex in Sirte.

And Williams added: The military commission has agreed to form a committee, to initiate a detainee exchange, as well as form teams, to clear mines in Sirte and establish a sub-committee, to oversee the withdrawal of foreign forces from the front lines.

Williams added that the committee agreed to resume flights to Sabha and Ghadames airports, and to hold a meeting with the commanders of the Petroleum Facilities Guard in Braiqa.

Williams reminded the spoilers, saying, “We know that there are maneuvers of what we call the” de facto party, “but we tell them: Your maneuvers will not work.
