The UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations “Miguel Angel Moratinos” warned, Thursday, of the consequences of insulting religions and sacred religious symbols, pointing out the need for freedom of expression to fully respect the beliefs of all religions.

Moratinos added, in a statement for the Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, that the growing tensions and instances of intolerance raised by the publication of caricatures sarcastic of the Prophet Mohammed are being pursued with concern, which Muslims consider extremely insulting.

Moratinos stressed that freedom of expression should be exercised in a way that fully respects the religious beliefs of all religions .. And acts of violence cannot and should not be linked to any religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group.

It is worth noting that French President Emmanuel Macron said on the 21st of October that France will not abandon the cartoons, after the publication of offensive pictures of the Prophet Mohammed, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
