Bo Metari: We do not have any accurate data on military spending in the Eastern Province.

Finance Minister Faraj Bo Metari said that they do not have any accurate data on military spending in the Eastern Province, its topics, the disbursement mechanism, and its classifications.

Bo Metari added in an interview with Al-Jazeera on Wednesday that the Government of National Accord now covers, with its general budget, the entire Libyan territory in terms of salaries, services, management budgets, fuel and medicine subsidies, indicating that there is a “slight” gap between what the reconciliation government covers financially and what is covered in the eastern region. Stating that there are attempts to create rapprochement through a joint committee sponsored by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to unify and fill any gaps in government spending.

In a related context, Bo Metari stressed that unofficial estimates of losses from oil closures amounted to $ 130 billion, while the losses incurred by Libya since the fall of the former regime are estimated at between $ 100 to $ 200 billion, including losses in infrastructure, the private sector, and citizens’ property.
