“Guterres” calls on Haftar’s militias to immediately lift the blockade on oil exports and calls on the Libyans to participate in the political dialogue.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, “António Guterres,” called on all Libyans to continue to work for a permanent ceasefire, and to contribute constructively to the Libyan Forum for Political Dialogue, which is led by the United Nations.

During a ministerial conference on Libya organized by the United Nations and Germany on Monday, Guterres called for the immediate lifting of the blockade imposed by Haftar’s militias on oil production and export, stressing the need to implement the commitments made at the previous Berlin conference, including full implementation and Unconditional arms embargo.

“Guterres” pointed out that the announcement of the resignation of the parallel government on the 13th of last September and the announcement of the President of the Presidential Council on the 16th of the same month that he will handover power by the end of this October are two events that provide an additional incentive for Libyan actors “to resume political dialogue and manage the process of returning the country to “Sustainable peace, stability and development.”

It is worth noting that the Acting envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Stephanie Williams, said Monday that the participants in the ministerial meeting in Berlin on Libya called for the launch of a comprehensive political process, the continuation of the truce, and the complete and unconditional lifting of the blockade on oil.
