On Friday, the Italian Foreign Minister, “Luigi de Maio,” described the decision of the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, to resign as a “courageous decision,” noting that it depends on the formation of an effective institutional structure that the Libyan parties reach based on a political agreement.
de Maio added, during a joint press conference at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Rome on Friday with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, that all parties that could have an influence on the Libyan parties must push towards dialogue, noting that the roadmap announced by the United Nations is “paying off”, According to the Italian “Aki” agency.
It is worth noting that the President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, announced, last September, his desire to resign at the end of this month to make room for the Joint Political Dialogue Committee to end its work and choose a new Presidential Council and a Prime Minister.
