Russia and China oppose to publish a report exposing violators of the arms embargo on Libya.

The head of the Security Council Sanctions Committee, “Gunter Sautter”, revealed that the delegations of Russia and China in the Council oppose publishing a report of the committee exposing countries and companies that violate the resolutions of the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

In a press statement on Friday, Sautter added that a number of delegations of UN member states requested the publication of the contents of the expert committee’s report on Libya, explaining that meeting the request would lead to a lot of transparency, and would contribute to exposing, blaming and identifying violators of the arms embargo resolutions imposed on Libya by name.

Sautter indicated that publishing the report will help the political process in Libya, expressing his hope for the green light from the delegations of Russia and China. Sautter stressed the need to openly expose those who violate the arms embargo resolutions on Libya.

It is worth noting that many UN reports revealed the violation of the arms embargo to Libya by several countries, most notably the UAE, Egypt, Russia and France.
