The British “Financial Times” newspaper said, on Saturday, that Khalifa Haftar has come under international pressure to lift the blockade on oil, after more than 8 months of its closure.
The newspaper quoted the senior assistant at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs “Wolfram Lacher”, that “the agreement between the deputy in the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteiq and Haftar, may not be accepted by all parties in the reconciliation government, according to the“ Financial Times ”.
Lacher added that Sarraj was not apparently part of the agreement announced by his deputy, and thus this may exacerbate divisions within the GNA.
The newspaper pointed out that “the Libyan conflict has turned into a proxy war that has attracted regional and international powers.”
It is worth noting that the US embassy said, in a statement, that Khalifa Haftar had personally pledged to it to open oil not later than September 12.
