German newspaper: The criminal court called on the German Public Prosecutor to investigate Abdulrahim Al-Kani during his medical treatment in Bonn.

The German newspaper “Süddeutsche Zeitung” revealed, on Wednesday, that one of the leaders of the Al-Kani militia in Tarhuna AbdUL-Rahim Al-Kani, accused of committing war crimes, received medical treatment for several years in the German city of Bonn, the most recent of which was in January and February.

The newspaper said that the International Criminal Court informed the Federal Prosecutor in Germany and the Federal Office of the German Criminal Police of his stay there, and the charges against him, and the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court called on the German authorities to discuss the options and investigation possibilities available in the case of Al-Kani, pointing to the existence of an arrest warrant against him. The newspaper indicated that the German Foreign Ministry said that Al-Kani obtained an entry visa to the country in 2017, but with a passport bearing a different name, and after that he continued to enter the country with a residence permit issued for cancer treatment.

The newspaper stated that Al-Kani and four of his brothers formed private militias in the city of Tarhuna, and that he was suspected of committing murder, torture and kidnapping of the population. These militias that fought alongside “Haftar’s forces” are accused of firing at residential areas in the capital, adding that after the escape of the Al-Kani militia and its members From Tarhuna last June, 8 mass graves were found containing at least 230 bodies.

In June 2020, the Public Prosecutor issued a warrant for the arrest of 20 accused of committing mass crimes in Tarhuna, including Abdul Rahim Al-Kani and his brothers.
