Head of the Supreme Council of State Khaled Al-Mishri said that the dialogue meetings between members of the Supreme Council and the representatives of Tobruk in Morocco are endeavors to discuss solutions to the Libyan crisis and protect the lives of Libyans and are not, as some claim, dividing positions and making concessions.
Al-Mishri added in an interview with Al-Jazeera on Monday that they had previous understandings in Tunisia regarding the amendment of the presidential council of a president and two deputies, the dismissal of the prime minister, and the mechanism for selecting the sovereign positions, noting that these consultations aim to search for a reason to start the dialogue instead of ways to resume fighting, according to him.
Al-Mishri indicated that in this dialogue there are no representatives of Haftar and he is completely outside the political scene, noting that they are monitoring the military support that reaches Haftar in Sirte and Al-Jufra and that the Emirates and the Russian “Wagner” company are the two that still support him, stressing the readiness of the Libyan army to respond to any move from Haftar and his militia.
It is worth noting that last Saturday, dialogue talks began in Morocco between members of the Supreme Council of State and the Tobruk Representatives, and they are still continuing.
