On Monday, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi De Maio said that the statements of the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Aqeela Saleh, of the ceasefire opens new opportunities that must be seized upon.
In a press statement reported by the Italian agency Nova, De Maio stressed Italy’s full support for a comprehensive political solution to the Libyan crisis and for translating the commitments announced in the two statements into concrete facts.
De Maio indicated that there are differences between the two statements, but there are common points such as a request for the reproduction and export of oil.
It is worth noting that Italian Foreign Minister Luigi De Maio met in Tripoli on the first of September with the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and in Tobruk, with Aqeela Saleh.
