Sanallah to “De Mayo”: The Libyan conflict is between those who implement the law and others that are against it.

The head of the National Oil Corporation, Sanallah, confirmed to the Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio, that the conflict in Libya is between parties that believe in the application of the law and respect for democracy and other parties that are hostile to that.

The two parties discussed, at the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli, on Tuesday, the negative role played by some foreign countries in Libya, especially the absence of Libyan oil from global energy markets.

For his part, “De Maio” affirmed his full support for the initiative proposed by the corporation to resume production and export of oil and freeze its revenues in the corporation’s account in the external bank in parallel with the launch of an economic track that ensures financial transparency and parallel with the track of restoring security arrangements regarding the security of oil installations.

In the same context, Sanallah discussed with the High Representative of the European Union “Josep Borrell” the European Union’s role in supporting the Corporation’s initiative, noting that the conflict is between parties that want to seize the wealth of the Libyan people.

Borrell welcomed the Corporation’s initiative to resume oil production and export, freeze its revenues in its account in the Libyan Foreign Bank, and launch an economic track that would ensure financial transparency in parallel with the track of restoring security arrangements.

It is worth noting that the head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, said last Thursday that the ongoing conflict over the oil facilities is an international political conflict rather than an internal Libyan dispute over the distribution of revenues.
