Popular demonstrations demanding the Interior Ministry to fulfill its promise to fight corruption.

A picture carried by some demonstrators in Tripoli, on Sunday, showed a phrase calling on the Ministry of Interior to implement its promises to fight corruption and the corrupt.

These demonstrations took place in several cities, including Tripoli and Misurata, under the name of the “23 August movement,” to demand the fight against corrupt officials who have incurred corruption in the institutions they head.

On August 10, Minister of Interior Fathi Bashagha signed a cooperation agreement with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Siddiq al-Kabeer, Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism.

It is worth noting that the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, announced last July 28 that senior officials in the state would be held accountable for corruption charges, in cooperation with the Attorney General’s office.
