Italy expressed its “great welcome”, on Friday, to the statements issued by the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Aqeela Saleh.
The Italian Foreign Ministry said, in a statement issued by the Italian news agency AKI, that the two statements included agreement on some principles establishing a common path to overcome the current stalemate in the country, starting with the immediate cessation of hostilities and the restoration of oil production activities.
Regarding the recent statements about resuming oil production, the Italian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that they would be implemented in a tangible manner, noting that these developments represent an important and courageous step towards resolving the Libyan crisis, according to the agency.
It is worth noting that the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, Aqeela Saleh, announced in two separate statements, an immediate ceasefire in the country, and an immediate resumption of oil production and export.
