A new initiative proposed by the House of Representatives , how is it different from others?

The crisis in Libya has prolonged and initiatives have multiplied to solve it without anything being implemented so far, and without an agreement or a clear mechanism to implement any of them on the ground, and there is no hope that any of them will see the light in the future.

After the initiative of the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, in June 2019, and the initiative of the President of the Supreme Council of the State, Khaled Al-Mishri, in October of the same year, and the initiative of Aqeela Saleh after the defeat of Haftar on the walls of Tripoli last April – the House of Representatives in Tripoli launched a new initiative to solve the political crisis, but Without clear Implementation mechanisms.

Implementation mechanisms

Political analyst Abdullah Al-Kabeer saw the launch of the initiative of the parliament in Tripoli, and the Libyan political forces in their entirety, a good thing in principle, adding that the parliament’s initiative raises general headlines that no two disagree with.

Al-Kabeer asked, in a statement to Arraed, how to implement this initiative? Who is it intended for? Was it submitted to the representatives not meeting in Tripoli?

Al-Kabeer asserts that the only way that puts us on the beginning of a solution to this blockage – is either a referendum on the draft constitution or the holding of new parliamentary elections, with all appreciation for any effort or proposal seeking to get Libya out of this tunnel, as he put it.

Late initiative

For his part, writer and political analyst Ali Abu Zayd criticized the long delay of this initiative , especially in light of active and important international movements. However, he believes that its impact may be good in activating the role of the parliament convened in Tripoli if its announcement is followed by movement and vigorous activity of the Council .

Abu Zayd added, in a statement to Arraed, that opening an effective discussion about the initiative with the Supreme Council of the State and the Presidential Council will give it momentum, in addition to communicating about it with the mission and international parties.

Will the initiative of the House of Representatives in Tripoli succeed in moving the current political stalemate, or will it remain confined to the drawers as happened with previous initiatives?
