Germany: The verdict against the journalist at Aboziriba is a flagrant violation of the principles of the rule of law.

The German Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights and Humanitarian Relief Policy, Purple Kofler, said on Wednesday that the verdict against journalist Ismail Aboziriba in a secret session that did not allow him even the use of a lawyer, represents a flagrant violation of the principles of the rule of law, and sheds light on a grim scene of the human rights situation in the east of Libya.

Kofler, in a statement posted on the official page of the German embassy in Libya, expressed grave concern over the sentence of journalist Ismail Aboziriba Al-Zwey to a 15-year prison sentence issued by a military court in Benghazi.

Kofler added that the accusations against Al-Zwey refer to a grave misuse of the anti-terrorism law with the aim of restricting freedom of expression and the press, urging the responsible authorities in eastern Libya to urgently release him so that the accusations against him are examined in a transparent framework , using the principles of the rule of law, according to the statement.

It is worth noting that the Benghazi Military Court issued a sentence two days ago to imprison photojournalist Ismail Aboziriba Al-Zwey for 15 years, after he was arrested in December 2018 by the Internal Security Agency in the city of Ajdabiya.
