The United Nations: Corona numbers in Libya are increasing, and tests are low and limited to Tripoli and Benghazi.

The deputy spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, said on Tuesday that the infection with the Corona virus is still increasing, and that the ability to test, track and treat people is low, and focuses on Tripoli and Benghazi.

Haq added, in press statements, that the lack of fuel and power cuts for more than 18 hours a day exacerbate the poor living conditions for many throughout Libya, while health facilities suffer from power cuts, which forced some to suspend operations temporarily.

The organization also expressed its concern that more than 125,000 people in and around Sirte may be exposed to great danger in the event that the escalation around Sirte turns into military operations, which threatens a possible humanitarian disaster.

Haq indicated that due to the acute shortage of smears for testing in the south, the health authorities in Tripoli sent a shipment of 2,000 smears to the city of Sebha.

It is reported that Libya recorded 4,063 cases of corona, including 3,345 active cases, 93 deaths, and 625 cases of recovery.
