A report issued by “Syrians for Truth and Justice” organization revealed the recruitment by Russian security companies in collusion with the Syrian regime, of at least 3 thousand Syrian mercenaries, including children, to fight in Haftar’s ranks against the GNA.
The report indicated, on Sunday, that recruitment operations began at the end of 2019 in the city of As-Suwayda, and then moved to Quneitra, Daraa, Damascus, its countryside, Homs, Hama, Hasaka, Raqqa and Deir Al-Zour.
The report emphasized that Russian companies allocate monthly salaries ranging between 800 and 1500 USD for a fighter, along with other security temptations such as striking out the names of those wanted by the Syrian regime and exempting them from joining the military service in the Syrian regime army.
The report revealed that the Syrian mercenaries recruited are divided into groups that protect Libyan oil facilities and charge 800 dollars per month, and others that are sent to the fronts and receive 1500 dollars per month with a full salary guarantee in the event of an injury.
The organization indicated that the majority of the recruitment operations are supervised by the Russian “Wagner” company in cooperation with local agents loyal to the Syrian regime, explaining that fighters from the sons of Sweida, Daraa, Quneitra, Damascus and its countryside are transferred to the headquarters of the “Division 18” in Homs and undergo a training course there before they are transferred to Damascus International Airport by land and from there to the Russian Hmeimim base.
The report stated that the “Wings of Alsham” company is responsible for transporting the majority of fighters alongside Russian military aircraft companies and landing flights at Benina Airport in Benghazi, Al-Jufra and Al-Khadim base in eastern Libya.
It is worth noting that a confidential internal report of the “Pentagon” reported by the American Associated Press on July 17 revealed that Russia sent between 800 and 2,500 mercenaries to fight in Haftar’s ranks, including Syrians.
