Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sadat Onal, said on Thursday that efforts to revive the totalitarian regime in Libya will only lead to more instability in it and in the region.
Onal added, during his speech Wednesday at the UN Security Council, that a military solution to the conflict in Libya will not work, and that the revival of the political process must be under the auspices of the United Nations while ensuring a sustainable ceasefire, he said.
Onal stated that there are many actors that have established relationships with parallel organizations in Libya, despite the clear provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2259, and this position is an approval granted to Haftar; In order to continue his aggression against the legitimate government and the Libyan political agreement.
Onal explained that unilateral initiatives in the absence of the legitimate government create conditions that are misleading and inappropriate for the political process.
Onal touched on the “IRINI” process, saying that this process in fact imposes sanctions only on the legitimate government, stressing that his country considers the government of reconciliation and support for legitimacy and efforts to protect civilian lives an international commitment, stressing the need to lift the siege and return oil installations under the cover of the National Oil Corporation ,Libya has lost more than $ 6 billion since the oil was closed.
