The US embassy in Libya said on Friday that the “shameful intervention” of the “Wagner” group and foreign mercenaries against the facilities of the National Oil Corporation and its employees in the Alsharara field is a direct attack on Libya’s sovereignty.
The embassy affirmed, according to its official page, its support to the National Oil Corporation to resume oil production, adding that Libya is witnessing an unprecedented campaign supported from abroad to undermine the energy sector, expressing regret that the Libyan parties were unable to reach a solution that would lift the embargo imposed on oil.
The embassy stated that enabling the National Oil Corporation to resume its operations is a prerequisite for the Libyan agreement, which has become an urgent need, and the longer it takes to keep Libyan oil hostage to foreign interests – the longer it will take to be able to recover economically.
It is worth noting that the National Oil Corporation, on Friday, expressed great concern about the presence of Russian and foreign mercenaries in the Alsharara oil field.
