US Secretary of State “Mike Pompeo” said Monday that putting the Libyan economy on the path to recovery requires the preservation of oil installations and ensuring that the National Oil Corporation controls them.
Pompeo added, according to media statements, that the US Congress issued a recent bill confirming that the activities of “yevgeny prigozhin” and its affiliated entities, including the Wagner Company, pose a threat to the interests and national security of his country and its allies and partners, and called for punishment.
The US Secretary of State added that the “Wagner” group called Haftar and his militias to provide mercenaries, artillery, tanks, drones and ammunition with the attendance of “prigozhin” personally to meet with Haftar and the Russian Minister of Defense “Sergei Shoigu” in Moscow in November 2018.
And Pompeo indicated that time now requires all Libyans and all parties to work to prevent Russia or any other country from interfering in the Libyan crisis in order to achieve its own goals.
Last Friday, the National Oil Corporation confirmed the deterioration of the security situation in the Alsharara oil field – to a dangerous level, after armed groups entered the Alsharara field coming from Sebha.
It is worth noting that the militias of Haftar closed on January 17th the fields and oil installations, and caused economic crises in the country after attempts by the Presidential Council to improve the economic situation in Libya.
