The German news agency DW said that the UAE prepared, with the participation of security companies, the mission of intercepting Turkish cargo ships heading to Tripoli.
And the agency added, from a confidential report by UN experts, that the secret mission stopped suddenly for unknown reasons less than a week after the arrival of helicopters and military boats to the city of Benghazi.
The agency quoted the secret report as saying that eight countries mainly planned the mission with security companies in the UAE, and with the participation of at least 20 people from Australia, France, Malta, South Africa, Britain and the United States, they were transferred to Libya from Jordan under the pretext of conducting scientific research.
According to the report, planning for the secret operation was mainly carried out by UAE-based security companies, which, according to experts, smuggled six helicopters from South Africa and two military boats from Malta to Libya in June 2019.
It is worth noting that the UAE transferred more than 5,000 tons of weapons earlier this year to Alkhadim base in eastern Libya, according to British press reports.
