The Presidential Council described, on Monday, what was stated in the declaration of Haftar’s coup against the political agreement and all political bodies, as an attempt to cover up the defeat that befell his militias and mercenaries, and the failure of his authoritarian project to seize power.
In a statement released by his media office, the Presidential Council said that Haftar, the “rebel,” turned against even the parallel political bodies that supported him, which appointed him one day, and thus no one or any country could boast of its legitimacy in any pretext.
The Presidential Council stressed that Haftar’s announcement assures everyone that it is necessary to defeat his coup project and eliminate the illusion that dominated his mind by seizing power.
The Presidential Council issued an appeal to all deputies to join their colleagues in Tripoli to start the comprehensive political dialogue and to continue the democratic path leading to a comprehensive and lasting solution through the ballot box.
The Presidential Council called on the deceived sons of the homeland and their families, especially in the eastern region, to lay down arms and to stop bloodshed and take sides with Libya.
It is worth noting that Haftar announced, in a televised speech through the channels supporting him, Monday, his coup against the House of Representatives and the inauguration of himself a military ruler of the eastern region.
