An armed group affiliated to Haftar shut down the river system and cut off water supplies to Tripoli and several other cities.

The Hasouna System Administration, Sahl Al-Jafara, announced, on Monday, that it stopped pumping water from the fields of the system’s wells, after an armed group affiliated to Haftar stormed the system’s site’s site in Shweref, and forced workers to close the flow control valves and stop the operation of the field wells.

The administration of the system indicated, on its official page, that the water will be shut off as a result from tonight to the cities whose water comes from the middle path, including Bani Walid, Tarhuna, Tripoli and nearby areas, also stopped pumping water back to Gharyan and some of the western mountains areas that were programmed within the operating plan this week.

The management of the board confirmed that it is a service provider that provides water supply services to all citizens, asking the security and military authorities to assume their responsibility and protect water well fields, control stations and water pipelines in the system.

It is worth noting that armed groups affiliated to Haftar had previously shut off water supplies to Tripoli, the coastal cities and the mountain area last year.
