The European Union mission to Libya said that Haftar’s aggression against the capital, Tripoli, came at a time when everyone was looking forward to holding the national conference with the support of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, which he hoped would push the country towards stability.
In a statement marking the one-year anniversary of the aggression in the capital, the mission said, “We find ourselves counting the losses, hundreds of civilian deaths, hundreds of thousands of displaced people, the destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure, billions lost in oil production, wider divisions between Libyans, and the deterioration of the lives of most of them.” ”
The mission pointed out that there is another danger facing the Libyans other than the nine-year-old war, which is the fight against Corona, which the mission called for a humanitarian truce to contain if the request is met.
The mission stressed that the Corona virus cannot be fought unless the violence stops and efforts are unified and made this an urgent national priority, promising to provide assistance in this battle, and recalling the state of its countries with the virus saying, “Let them know the magnitude of the danger, so let them look to the sea to see what is happening in our countries, and we are supposed to have the most developed Health systems.
It is worth noting that the fourth of April coincides with the first anniversary of Haftar launching his aggression against the capital, Tripoli, which left hundreds of dead and wounded and hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
