The President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Asarraj, declared a state of emergency and mobilization to face the repercussions of the threat of the Corona virus, which struck the countries of the world and neighboring countries of Libya, and activate the WHO strategic plan for preparedness and response and allocating half a billion dinars to combat this epidemic.
Asarraj ordered, in a video speech Saturday, to close all land and air outlets in the country for a period of three weeks starting from Monday, as a precautionary measure to enter the infected, calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to communicate with all embassies in which the Libyans are located in the countries of the epidemic, and to provide them with assistance, protection, immunization and treatment of patients so that they can return to The country.
Asarraj stressed that the study in public and private schools, institutes and universities should be suspended for a period of two weeks, renewable to protect students and teachers from the transmission and spread of this epidemic, provided that the Ministry of Education compensate for the missing period of study, calling on the Ministry of Endowments to direct the worshipers to pray in their home until the risk of this epidemic has ended.
Asarraj noted the continuation of the work of cafes and restaurants that meet high standards of preventive measures until four o’clock in the evening, the closure of all cafes where smoking is carried out, the cessation of all sports and cultural activities and the closing of wedding halls that have large human gatherings.
Asarraj warned the media of the need to adhere to accuracy and professionalism, to draw news from official sources and not to circulate rumors and allocate advertising and media spaces to educate citizens about the behaviors to be adhered to.
Asarraj pointed out that the crisis cell that was formed around the clock to follow the developments emanating from the epidemic and the work in multiple teams to facilitate communication between citizens and health centers and the use of communication technology to increase community awareness, and to give free calls to ambulance and emergency teams and reduced packages for Internet service.
It is worth noting that the National Center for Disease Control confirmed that no case with the Coronavirus has been registered so far inside the country.
