Karmous calls on the GNA to block the road for the parallel government and protect the property of the Libyans.

Member of the Supreme Council of State, Adel Karamous, called on the GNA and its foreign ministry on Wednesday to take all necessary measures to block the parallel government to preserve the money and property of Libyans abroad.

In a statement to Arraed, Karmous considered that the opening of the Libyan embassy in Damascus by the parallel government is contrary to the United Nations Security Council resolutions that urge the international community not to deal with parallel bodies and limit the interaction with the recognized government and its institutions.

Karmus said that it is an absurd step that has no desired results at the international level for both countries, because it was issued from two bodies that are isolated from international dealings, and therefore the parallel government will not achieve an international recognition or legitimacy from this and the maximum that it can achieve is the seizure of Libyan funds and the investments in this Country.

It is worth noting that the parallel government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Assad regime and opened an embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
