Italian Foreign Minister Luigi de Mayo said on Wednesday that there is no military solution to the crisis in Libya, and there is a diplomatic process under way now that must be clung to, because it is the only way to find a solution.
De Mayo, in an interview with the Associated Press of America, thanked the UN envoy to Libya for being able to gather the Joint Military Commission and place them on the dialogue table.
De Mayo called for the United States to intervene in Libya, stressing the importance of conveying a clear message from the United States of America regarding ending the external intervention and agreeing to a permanent ceasefire, he said.
It is worth noting that the Italian government demanded, earlier, Khalifa Hifter to return to political dialogue, and to stop military actions against the capital, Tripoli.
