British newspaper “The Independent” revealed that Hifter admitted that he does not have control over all of his forces.
The newspaper pointed out in a report on Wednesday that the former British ambassador in Libya, Peter Millett, faced Hifter in 2018 with the crimes of killing prisoners and executions committed by his militants without trials, Hifter’s response to him was, “I do not control all my forces.”
The newspaper added in its report that Hifter, the 77-year-old warlord, undermined international peace initiatives in Libya, noting that he had angered Russian President “Vladimir Putin” recently by failing the Moscow talks on a ceasefire agreement.
The newspaper quoted former US envoy to Libya, “Jonathan Wiener”, as saying that Hifter rejected all opportunities available to unify Libyan institutions, confront terrorism and achieve stability.
The newspaper added that Hifter’s dependence on the support of foreign powers led to the alliance of the reconciliation government with Turkey to confront the Russian mercenaries, while the newspaper considered that Algeria sees Hifter an enemy and an Egyptian agent on its borders.
