Conte to Salama: Italy supports UN efforts to avoid Tripoli conflict


Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte confirmed on Friday his country’s support for the UN efforts to spare the capital Tripoli more destruction and spare civilians more harm.

Conti, stressed during his meeting with the United Nations Special Representative to Libya Ghassan Salama to discuss the latest field and diplomatic developments related to the Libyan situation, stressed the need to find a peaceful solution to what Tripoli is encountring.

It is reported that the Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi de Mayo, called on Friday, the countries neighboring Libya, “Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Chad, Niger and Egypt” for a ministerial meeting to discuss the situation in Libya on the fringes of the Mediterranean Dialogue Conference.
