In a meeting with Interior Minister Fathi Pashaga and the Commander of the Central Military Region Mohammed Al-Haddad in Misurata, the US Ambassador to Libya Peter Bodi renews his country’s commitment to the stability of Libya and its unity and the establishment of a state capable of combating terrorism.
Bodi and Pashagha, along with other military officials, discussed the efforts exerted to ensure the establishment of security institutions in Libya capable of providing security for all Libyans. Bodi expressed his satisfaction with the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior to maintain security and stability in Libya.
On his part, Pashagha stressed the need for cooperation between the two countries and the support of the Interior Ministry in the fields of training and rehabilitation of its security elements, according to the official page of the ministry.
Last December, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed the US support for Libya’s UN envoy Ghassan Salame’s plan and the start of the electoral process this spring.
