Khaled Al-Meshri, on Saturday, announced his withdrawal from the Muslim Brotherhood organization.
In a statement, Al-Meshri said that he is continuing his political and partisan work, calling on all Libyans and the moderate muslims to work away from any slogans or names that may be used to strike at the unity and cohesion of Libyan society.
Al-Meshri expressed his hope that the group’s reviews, which were completed after their meeting in Tripoli in October 2015, will find their way to implementation. The most important of these is the termination of the Muslim Brotherhood and the transition to institutional action through civil society institutions.
Khalid al-Mashri was elected president of the High Council of State (HCS) in April last year, replacing its former president Abdul Rahman Al-Suwahili.
