The commander of the western military region, Osama Al-Juwaili, on Thursday, stated that the current clash between the military units in the south of Tripoli is “expected” and “expected to be repeated, because the agreement on the cease-fire did not take place on solid ground”, explaining that it was between the officials of Tarhona and Tripoli, in the absence of effective force on the ground.
In a statement to ArraedLg, Al-Juwaili said that the for the military forces to enter the western region and middle between these conflicting parties is a “thorny” issue that must be preceded by several steps, most notably the cease-fire and the agreement of these parties to enter it; adding, that it is a separating force, that is working to find ground to separate the two forces with an 8-10 kilometers distance and to establish monitors for fire control and other procedures, he said.
Al-Juwaili explained that the Western military force is tasked with securing the western region in the Al-Zahra bridge, the 27 bridges and the outer Tripoli area, which is already “currently” securing a part of it, and it has no hand in the clashes happening in western Tripoli.
The clashes resumed on Wednesday between military units belonging to the seventh brigade and another of the protection force of Tripoli, killing five people and wounding 20 others.
