Imran: Members Of The Body Had Benn Prevented From Holding Awareness Sessions Of The Constitution In Al-Bayda and Shehatt

Member of the founding body of the draft of the constitution, Nadia Amran, on Sunday, said that there are “protesters” in the city of Al-Bayda who had prevented the members of the body to hold meetings, which were planning to raise awareness of the draft constitution despite the existence of coordination with the security forces there.

Amran explained that the director of security in Al-Bayda asked not to hold a meeting, and that the same act had happened in Shahatt after the mayor had contacted the municipality, and apologized under the pretext of the threat of “social peace,” explaining that the members of the Commission are in cooperation with H2o team, which deals with the democratic transition and had organized a campaign titled “Understand Your Constitution Before It Is Addressed” in order to educate citizens about their political rights and to encourage them to express their views on the draft constitution negatively or positively, and to highlight the importance of the Constitution and its role in organizing Authorities, and laying the foundations of the state, indicating that the round includes dialogues and forums with the team of the organization.

Amran said that the first phase includes several cities in the east, and continues to cover other areas in Libya, noting that the first session was in the city of Al-Qibba, and the second was supposed to be in Shahatt, Al-Bayda.

The referendum law on the Constitution issued by the House of Representatives (HOR) is witnessing a legal debate after the constitutional amendment by HOR, which divides Libya into three constituencies.
