United States of America: We Support the National Forum and the Elections in Libya

The Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America, “David Satterfield,” on Sunday, confirmed his country’s support for the National Forum as a process led by and holds the Libyans and the credible elections in Libya.

During his meeting in Palermo with the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, and his deputy for political affairs, Stephanie Williams, he expressed his appreciation for the role of the mission in strengthening the ceasefire in Tripoli, according to the mission’s page.

The UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama, said in his briefing to the Security Council, that the elections should be held in Libya in March next year and start the activities of the National Forum at the beginning of the same year.

The Palermo conference, hosted by Italy to resolve the Libyan crisis, will start shorty today.
