Security Council: The Government of Al-Wefaq Has the Right to Apply for Gun Supply

The UN Security Council resolution, on Tuesday, confirmed that the Al-Wefaq government has the right to apply for the arms supply, sale, or transfer equipment which would be used by its forces to defeat ISIS.

On its official website, the council called on the Sanctions Committee to consider these requests expeditiously, affirming its readiness to consider reviewing the provisions of the gun embargo when necessary.

In 2011, the UN Security Council issued a resolution banning the supply of arms to Libya.
