The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame said that the Mission not only supports economic reforms, but also is rushing for their implementation and facilitates the employment of the necessary monetary, financial and economic reforms.
Salame said in a press statement on Wednesday that there are 6 proposals out of 26 economic proposals of urgency, we want them to implemented as soon as possible.
In a related context, Salame explained that the UNSMIL supports the holding of elections to solve the problem of legitimacy and double institutions, but these elections need a law to be based on, a security situation suited to it and all parties acceptance of the results.
Salame stressed that it is the will of the Libyans alone which decides what they want, noting that the Mission is seriously considering the process of reaching elections, adding that if they were able to conduct it later in the year it would be a good thing and if it took more weeks it would not be tragic.
The head of the Presidential Council (PC), Faiz Al-Sarraj met on Wednesday with the president of the Hogh Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mashri and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Sadiq Al-Kabir to follow up the final steps of the economic reform program.
