Haftar to boycott Rome conference, says Italian media

A source said on Tuesday that Operation Dignity commander, Khalifa Haftar plans to boycott the International Conference on Libya, to be held in Rome next fall.

Italian Huffington Post quoted a private source saying that negotiating the postponement of the Libyan elections in December is not negotiable, adding that Italy has to bear all the consequences if it supports the retreat of some parties from the deadline, according to news agency AKI.

The source confirmed the possibility of discussing the presence of international observers for the elections in Libya.

France supports the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya next December, while Italy seeks to reconcile political parties in Libya to ensure acceptance of the election results.
