Libyan navy rescues 60 illegal immigrants

Libyan navy spokesperson, Ayoub Qassem said on Sunday that the coast guards of the western sector at the Zawiya refinery point saved 60 illegal immigrants, including 19 women, and 4 children, who were on a rubber boat with a broken-down engine.

Qassem said the rescue operation was carried out 7 miles north of Sorman, adding that the immigrants are different African and Arab nationalities and were transferred to the port of Zawiya refinery and then handed over to the Al-Nasr shelter.

The Libyan navy rescued last week, about 600 immigrants in three separate operations north of Garabulli and Khoms.
