Libyan navy rescues 574 illegal immigrants off the coast of Garabulli and Zawiya

Navy spokesperson, Ayoub Qassem said on Wednesday Coast Guard patrol rescued 574 illegal immigrants, including women and children, in separate operations on six rubber boats.

In a statement to ArraedLG, Qassem said the immigrants are of different African nationalities, in additions to Syrians and Libyans, who were on boats north-west of Zawiya and north of Garabulli, confirming that they were handed over to the Tajoura, Ain Zara and Janzour shelters.

On Monday morning, rescued migrants arrived at the Tripoli naval base and were provided with medical and humanitarian aid.
