GNA Interior Minister says smuggling is a “dangerous act” on Libya’s national security

The Government of National Accord (GNA) Interior Minister, Abdel Salam Ashour said smuggling operations have become “a serious act on the national security of the country, and exhausted the livelihood of Libyans”.

Ashour stressed, according to the ministry’s official site, in his visit to Wazin border crossing point with Tunisia on Saturday, the need to intensify the efforts of all security services at the crossing to reduce smuggling.

Ashour inspected the facilities of the border crossing and the projects that were not completed to facilitate the traffic between the citizens of Libya and Tunisia and the commercial movement of the flow of goods between the two countries.

Ras Ajdir border crossing with Tunisia has been closed for more than two weeks on orders from Interior Minister, Abdel Salam Ashour, due to Tunisian protesters preventing Libyan travelers from crossing into Tunisia.
